The masquerade we enjoy
The silly little ploys
We play deceitful games
I consider them a shame
The masks, which we display
Have taken over our ways
Now we have finally lost
The road that leads to our past
The things we say and do
Often which none holds true
True to the person inside
Why do we listen to pride?
The masks we choose so wise
Will reflect, if needs arise
How we wish to be perceived
Not that which we have conceived
The times that I have felt
Not well, for having said
What I believe to be untrue
Will be gone in its time due
The masks beautifies all man
Shields the ugliness on hand
Who then, possesses virtue?
That he can judge us so cruel?
The feelings that we conceal
Does not disappear at will
The emotions we tightly cap
Will one day flow free like sap
These masks behind which we hide
Should be taken aside
Let it finally be heard and seen
What we truly mean
I have no intent to preach
This lesson I cannot teach
It's quite difficult a task
Because I too, am wearing the mask
