The Ripples' Tale
Chelsey Engel

The ripples expand in the puddles, stretching before my eyes
Little at first, then grow stronger, reflect the darkness in the sky
They tell a story of destruction and death, the people falling apart
As the pain of hostility shoots their souls, ripping, tearing their hearts

Their bodies weak and weary, their eyes drooping low
They knew in their hearts that the only way to live is to never let go
Weapons not in use, only their minds put together
The patriots united and pledged that they would last forever

Walking the paths of harmony, down the road of peace
All together they declared that their love shall never cease
With their good hearts and souls, they lived a life of amity
Which led up to their growing of wings, peacefully flying free

Now the ripples are beginning to die, die down to a hole of clear
Only the sound of the hymns of the breeze flow soothingly in my ear
The clouds are moving away, the sky so beautiful and divine
I close my eyes to shield the golden sun beginning to shine
