Waiting Out The Storm
Rosebulb

When the snow storm hit
It did not spare
Up in knee deep
Here and there, everywhere
Shutdowns were broadcast
All over the air
And I imagine some thought
This storm is unfair
Outside cars and trucks
Were motionless in driveways
Not a sound of a snowplow
Was ever on, display
Grocery stores were crowded
Every isle was packed
Shopping carts racing, everywhere
Being fully stacked
Oh the storm was here!
No doubt about, it-
Like a vengeance it struck
With a powerful hit
Not an animal in sight
My little heart had felt
I hope they found a covering
For their little pelts
And as I watched,
The snow drift and blow
More flakes were descending
Upon the earth below
The cold winds were icing
So piercing and mean
As I woke from sleep
I knew this was no dream
I guess through all, the panic I saw
Of shoppers preparing for the worse
Then sat waiting until it's over
And I prayed, it didn't damage their purse
