Happy Birthday Mom
Richard E. Funnell |
Happy birthday Mom.
I know where you are.
Looking down from heaven
from a very distant star.
You were the greatest Mom
when you were alive.
To do everything you taught me
I still struggle and strive.
Life was not easy for me
after you departed
to your new home.
When you were on earth
I did not do things
like write a poem.
Every year on your birthday
I remember you with joy.
Recalling all the love I got
When a young and growing boy.
You did not make life easy
But what you did was right.
Thanks to you I face the world
in a completely different light.
Conditions have changed
Since the day
that you did depart.
We no longer see
courtesy and kindness.
Love is not in every heart.
The world you left
has become bitter,
Filled with envy, spite and hate.
But the lessons of love you left
Promise me a much better fate.
When I wish you
happy birthday Mom,
I know your new home
is filled with love.
I know you are watching
me from heaven,
Sitting next
to our Heavenly Father above.
