As the Towers were demolished at the Stadium of Wembley
Not a dry eye in sight from the fans in assembly
The venue of legends is never no more
But a mass of old debris that's strewn on the floor.
A new Stadium will be built and rise in its place
Of what was called our National disgrace
Although it was worshipped by those who now pine
A monument of disinfectant and the smell of urine.
Facilities were poor and the prices were high
Aftershocks were felt after buying a pie
Hot dogs and hamburgers were the price of a meal
And the prices of a programmes that didn't appeal.
Seventy odd thousand were crammed into the ground
With most drinking beers and swaying around
The queues for the toilets was always too long
And most had a bladder which wasn't that strong.
But we cannot forget that sixty six date
When Geoff Hursts goal sealed the Germans fate
The Stadium itself so famous world wide
Now finally rests with me abide.

Sad as it seemed, but we must move with
the times and progress from old to new.
