The Father Of Man
Sreekanth Kopuri

The charming flash of grin,
the fair dimples on
the buttery soft cheeks,
your seraphic grace
stirred my slumbering divine spirit.
The vicissitudes of the world,
the epic battles of nations,
the incessant groan
and fret of life,
shall not disturb your angelic slumber.
Let my brush steel you
on the canvass, an unheard message
touched my soul.
Spiritual sermons my heart
listens from your smiles.
In the heavenly light
of your face my sins are obvious.
A morsel of rice,
a crunch of a cookie,
a suck of milk, the continual suck
of the thumb, your inscrutable expressions,
your baptizing like bath,
your hasty crawling,
your hasty sitting,
your pretty smiles from the toothless gums,
your continual patting of the toy on the floor, your wobbly steps...
Who shan't last for them again and again?
You demanded reverence
you commanded love...
The voice of almighty.
