Into The Darkness
Gregory Hirn |
Stress crest wine, dines my blood
Driven and wild as eyes close for time
Winks of glare off gloss
And through the chinks my frosted lazy lies
Trying to pry my body closed
Contracting, then retracting the truth of my mind
For time to unwind
Through the painted prose cascading down the line of the earth
And stars lost in cloud damp beams
That truly are the seams to bind me to my thoughts
My dreams crease with my lids and I slip and slide
Back into myself
And as objective I am biased for the cement slaps
gladly couch my aged wicker seat
and plates the morning, day, and dusky musk hues
And as much as the fake over baked people
fluster the bustling world
The rat race ends with night
And fright of how to live my life
is overtaken my pure breath
street light fluorescents still grow and glow
and bitter cold still lingers on the air
but swarming warmth darkness tills the soil that solely
I feel I know owns my roots
and as my roots deep trod into the earth
I am birthed again within the black
And erasing the paced day
filled with never ending, anger trends
traffic. horns. and screams.
I still see through the open window
and still see rain shadows drift
and still see dew rifts
playing its fingertips against the strings of nature
but what of day break craze...
seems lonely to the night
when soul reaches haze
and lax eyes are apt to see the blinding festered pitch grey stretch
And the stench of blunt gas has passed in hours
The sour taste wasted only for the day
And now my pupils large lay beneath my lid shade eyes
Until the mornings sun awakes
My dreams arise of tactless days
when strange queer awkward silence fine
is strong and cheap and priceless still
still hoping through despair through the thick blatant air
reminds me of my days behind.
Oh earth...no sectors, factions, groups, or boundaries
I am free in tired...
I see nothing but light in the darkness
And my mother, once birthing me
Sticks her water droplet praise
onto those roots that wind like the electrical, and the mesh
but now into the heart of folk land
