Daddy
I'm writing this in hope you hear
Your seven daughters who want to share
The things our mother has had to bear
Daddy,
Where were you in our childhood days?
You were the monster we kept at bay
As we got older, we thought you went away
Daddy,
While most children run
to their father for hugs
We hid in our closets
and seeked solace from above
As children we shouldn't have had to hit
The monster hurting our mother with fists
Innocent little girls we were back then
Corrupted by violence and multitudes of sin
Our mother has been there throughout our lives
Teaching us to stand strong and survive
But Daddy,
You wound up in our thoughts to stay
The demons and monsters are here today
Our dreams come back and we are your prey
Daddy,
Please help us carry this cross we bear
It's getting quite heavy and we want to share
We didn't ask for the scars that are here
In closing Daddy,
We thank god for our mother
who balanced our past
Our children we have raised
with no monsters that last
As for us, we are still young
and supposedly free
But, trapped by the nightmares
we will forever be
