Yeats's Spiritus Mundis
Are arriving!
Their target, not Ireland alone,
Though, they'll spare not their birthplace,
Yeats's birthplace.
Monstrous, wrathful, revengeful,
Determined not-to-be-challenged,
They'll sweep the Globe over,
Pre-Plague, pre-SARS!
Invoked, they'll not rest
Until they wrought extinction;
Human incantations, Faustus-like,
Have brought them to life!
We've signed our sepulchral contract,
Inviting this terrible Apparition.
Get ready for the Dooms Day,
Here they arrive- - horrendous Monsters!
Kaliyuga, The Fire, or, other Scriptural Dooms-
Man stands, still unrepentant, still spawning evils,
Oblivious of the imminent Scourge
Descending on him, with unstoppable fury!
