Tibetan Eyes
Ivy Rose |
Almond eyes, brown like the earth,
wellsprings of a childlike soul.
Your small, hand reaching up
to hold mine, your fingers
interlocking with my own.
Your Tibetan eyes
the windows to your soul,
deep, dark, eyes that speak
of joy and misery intermingled.
I am a curiosity to you
as you are a curiosity to me.
Your eyes sparkle when I smile; then
you smile back at me with a toothy grin.
We don't speak the same language.
We don't live the same lives;
yet your hand in mine
is the bond that brings us closer
to the eternity I feel
in the depths of your Tibetan eyes.
