Last Night In December
Nancy Tomei
|
On the last night in December,
she lay quietly and wished,
that he would come and kneel beside her,
and heal her with his kiss.
But alas, in her heart she knew,
that Fairy Tales do not come true.
For the one she adored no longer could see,
a future for them, where their love could be.
The final flicker of hope dissolved,
as the candles died away.
The hands of the clock slowly revolved,
to midnight, marking the end of the day.
Time to say farewell, as another year slips by,
Time to say goodbye, to a love affair gone dry.
