After the glory days have gone by
You are still there
You have left your family
And friends, are living
In a world of chaos
We must remember
After the bombs have been dropped
After the greatest battles fought
You are still there
We must never forget
We must ever keep you
In our prayers and in our hearts
Because, after the parades
Have been marched,
After the joyful reunions embraced
You are still there
You are still fighting
To keep our country free
And, you are all alone
In a country
That wants you to leave
So, after the glory days
Have gone by
When it seems that
All the world has forgotten you
This country must never forget
That you are still there
This poem is dedicated to all the brave young men
and women who are serving our country in foreign
lands and on foreign seas. My son being one of them.
