The Garden
Colette M. Friedman |
There is a garden, somewhere, I am told
Built for the sweet, sweet soul
Where a fountain softly overflows
Where the scent of Rose and Eucalyptus grows
Where the healing begins long after you have gone
One thing, those entering must have come from beyond
Beyond the ravages of pain and attack
You must have gone all the way to have come back
Humility and arrogance must have crossed your path
You must have questioned Gods reason for his wrath
You must have heard that persistent voice inside say,
"I must have done something to deserve this today"
And remembered how no one believed you as you cried
And felt the indignity and slaughter of your pride
See in this garden, you must want to be renewed
You must leave behind all the images you hold
Leave behind all the lies you've been told
Because here, the voice of irreverence does not exist
There is no room for self-defamation and worthlessness
And, believe that you are an angel of God
Surrender your spirit with a simple nod
And, come to believe that you are the INNOCENT
And, those who maim and hurt
Will receive their just punishment
Because, only then, will you have gone all the way
Renewed from the pain life has brought you today
Resurrected from the guilt, removed from hate
Conquering your fears from those who subjug
