Withhold The Light
Gilbert L. Roberts |
Soundless shadows crawl the hallways of
existence counting the days until extinction, oh to age another day.
Pain etched in the brow shall tell a story of a life.
Silver laced with black displays the contrast of age and youth.
I danced and played in time, I was lost as I fell
through a crack in forever. Withhold the light,
shadows crawl soundlessly through the hallways
of time. Silence, a creed unwavering from place
to place, life is a business, death a doorway,
upon which side? life still resides.
Shadows fall upon the evening shore and the ocean returns to the sand.
A descending sunlight
blenches on the edge of the horizon, then slips
beneath the day. Night holds the light and
portrays a fallacy illumination to replace the
image upon the eye. Wandering in the corridors,
and endless maze with no solution and only a way
in. What is the mystery, forever has two sides,
both are forever. Windows in the minds eye are
tinted against the light, veiled in the gray
dingy view are the answers to what lies beyond.
A heart devoid of faith, emotions to long left
alone, eyes that too often weep, a soul in need
of love, in need of hope, in need of peace -
must not be found wanting of courage. Windows
in the minds eye are tinted against the light,
veiled in the gray dingy view are the answers
to what lies beyond.
