I carved these words into the tree
that you and I played in
and hoped that somehow you would see
the way I felt back then.
Childhood things will pass away
and a wounded tree will heal,
but time will never take away
that which a heart can feel.
These words I wrote so long ago
they only tell in part,
how deep the feelings that were carved
forever in my heart.
Just simple words that mark a time
that you and I were in
and yet the feelings are the same
as they were back then.
Those days of youth though they are gone
are still as sweet to me,
as they were the day I carved
these two words into a tree.
"FOREVER MINE"
