Mercy
Paul E. Berube

A passing word in verse be heard,
of life seek your reward.
Please understand, that every man
can wield a mighty sword.

Cry those tears, release your fears,
on each the rain must fall.
What can be lost, undue remorse,
tomorrow won't recall.

Ink has dried, eyes have cried,
another dawn awaits.
You must cope, don't lose hope,
mercy seals your fate.

In sweet refrain, that which remains,
is sought on common ground.
All that's told, can not behold,
a view if it's not sound.
