Sunrise
Sherye Gibson |
I awaken and stretch, I glance at the clock
Shall I hide beneath the warm sheets
As thoughts start racing through my mind
I decide to arise, to enjoy this time
Taking advantage of the serenity
As I leisurely peer out the window
At the first hint of morning light
Clouds in the shapes of powder puffs
Floating patches of pink and white
Did God use a brush to paint them
So magnificent against the sky
The aroma of coffee; so inviting
Distracts from this fantastic sight
I pour me a cup and decide to relax
Enjoying this tranquil time, I reflect
Sunrise; my favorite time of the day
