Anger pounds in thunderous chords against the fallen one.
She takes the blows yet holds her own; agony pierces her heart.
Her "Home, Sweet, Home" a battlefield, repeatedly torn all apart.
Peace lies jaggedly wounded; writhing in agony and pain.
Sounds of shattered & battered dreams hit the walls again.
Beneath the foul & firey air, bodies lay shivering with fright.
Prayers released from trembling lips drift into the night.
Children cling together; defending torment haunts their minds.
Count one to ten, pray again and again, to leave this all behind.
Oft was felt this house was built near the tortuous Gates of Hell;
a defile metamorphous taken place disguised in blackened veil.
Upon swollen & weary eyelids falls the warmth of dawning day.
Purity in the light ignites; taking flight the evil fades away.
Observed the ill-strewn battleground lying in abuser's wake.
Another night has passed at last: the truth they must forsake.
Donned the masks of youth in bloom their secrets are never told.
Pain hidden behind innocent eyes; sweet faces look so very old.
Deny the truth, silence the heart; hollow shells are all we see.
Smiles painted on; sanity gone; Lives scared for all eternity.
