Of The People We Loved
Roger Belton |
With each heartbeat of the advancing year,
Memories of the past grow ever more dear.
Those moments in time from years gone by,
Bring smiles to the face…and often tears to the eye.
Memories of childhood when life was so clear,
Each day brought new wonders, but seldom a fear.
We ran and we played, savoring every hour,
Never dreaming even once that life could turn sour.
But, as we matured, our world grew more drear,
With childish innocence fading, life was less clear.
But memories still linger, glowing stronger with time,
To help take us back to those moments sublime.
Our memories make it possible to relive once again
Those moments so golden, still nestled in our brain.
We enjoy yet again those pleasures and sights,
That remain just as vivid as the stars on clear nights.
We recall those moments, their magic grown stronger,
Of the people we loved, who are with us no longer.
