Richard E. Funnell

With email out of order I wondered what to do.
Tried writing a letter by hand that was long overdue.
After a couple of lines the pen ran out of ink.
Looked for another while dreaming of my email link.
Found no pen but a pencil that was dull.
Had tossed the pencil sharpener.
What a numbskull!
Got a point on the pencil with my trusty knife.
Wished the letter could be written by my wife.
Pencil writing got easier until I broke the point.
While sharpening the lead I sliced a finger joint.
Got no sympathy with my band aide.
Wife said "sit still" so I quickly obeyed.
Memory of handwritten letters
is still an ancient blur.
After attempting a pencil, email I do prefer.
Took the stamped letter to the post office to mail.
Finding the "out mail" receptacle
caused a big exhale.
Scrutinized it with a suspicious mind.
The "SEND" button; I could not find.
