The Moments That Are
Roger Belton |
Why do we overlook the "moments that are,"
Until they retreat into our past, so very far?
We fail to appreciate the joy that can be,
And only realize its value when a past memory.
The events and the people who surround us today
Quickly fade into the mists as life slips away.
We think we have time to show how we feel,
To tell those we love that their value is real.
But, all too quickly, we find we're just too late;
For time moved on, and events wouldn't wait.
The moment slipped past, almost unnoticed, you see,
And those "moments that are," have become history.
