Summer's midday tranquility
symphony of locust's soothing lullaby
curtains billowing in the breeze
with Mother Nature's breath
a songbird perched on a limb
rich melody thru half-opened window
all is well...all is well
slow creak of a door left ajar
curious green eyes peer thru
beneath tassels of blond curls
quietly as not to awaken
covertly approaching sweet destiny
to lay by her mother's side
not a sound...not a sound
"do not disturb momma's nap"
this peaceful interlude to her day
her tranquil waltz with the sandman
half-opened eye humorously watches
a child's innocent quest for comfort
sleepily moves over to make room
a mother's love...a mother's love
nestled in the warmth of her mother's body
cool, crisp sheets against the skin
the rise and fall of her mother's breath
serenely she drifts off to sleep
victory lay silently on her brow
a nurturing arm enfolds her
love surrounds...love surrounds
