Mercy
Laura D. Rodriguez |
Will the Liberty of Life come to be Mine
If I shed Mortality and lay it by,
And flourish in spite of that dreaded curse,
That leaves me helpless upon a Hearse.
A Slave to humanity's tradition
And past my peak: My Life's fruition
Dictated by the Cessation of Heart
Ignoring the fire sprung from the spark.
A full ignition of the Life I crave
As the dimming finds me old and Grave
And gathering my futile plea
For Death to kindly spare Me
