The Graceful Weeping Willow
Ellen Rector

The graceful weeping willow,
weeps for the mighty oak.
One of the finest wonders,
to ever embellish the earth.

For years they clung together,
their branches intertwined.
Nourishing each other
every time they dined.

Together they survived,
their roots went very deep.
But time ran out for the mighty oak,
he was stricken with a disease.

Her branches droop with sorrow.
The mighty oak's taken away.
Her branches slowly dying,
growing weaker, day by day.

Weeks have slowly passed.
The ground is soaked with tears.
When suddenly by her side,
A little oak appears.

Her branches start to tremble
as she clings to the little one,
and blesses the mighty oak
for leaving behind, his son.
