A Brief Exchange
Wendy Isbell

Your brilliant spirit caught my eye,
amongst the many passers by,
Offered invitation with my stare.

My stomach felt a sudden stir,
With hope you'd be a heartache's cure.
Within no time at all, you were near.

Our conversation ran with ease,
my heart, your lovely face did tease.
A wild spark was lit for us to share.

Many nights we spent together,
Not a moment without pleasure...
As we swam in passion's sweet affair.

Intimate feelings quickly grew...
Then sudden, times with you came few.
Reasons for the change were quite unclear.

Our brief exchange was all but done,
passion's beautiful song was sung...
T'was time to say goodbye to you, my dear.

Your farewell's honesty received,
you left me hurt, but not deceived.
Thankful always that you were so fair.

Remembered you'll be forever,
for talent, and love's endeavor.
With each caressing kiss you gave great care.

I wrote this poem just for thee,
expressing the void that's left in me.
Still, ever you need a friend, I'll be there
