A 21st Century Night Before Christmas
Roger Belton |
'Twas the night before Christmas and all thru the room
Was a feeling of depression, of gathering gloom.
Would Santa make it this year to herald the day?
Or would Osama Ben Grinch manage to hi-jack his sleigh?
Concern was evident on each tiny face,
As we peered into the sky, looking for a trace.
When, all at once, to our searching eyes did appear,
Ol' Santa driving furiously, his face showing fear.
For close behind him, on a carpet self-propelled,
Came Osama Ben Grinch diving from a black cloud.
Santa pulled on the reins, taking evasive action;
Turning right, then left using sure reindeer traction.
He moved so quickly, Osama overshot his mark,
Crashing into a redwood standing strong in the dark!
His once speedy carpet was ripped and shredded,
And straight down to the ground Osama headed.
Santa circled overhead, with a laugh and a cheer,
Proclaiming to all you have nothing to fear,
So long's Santa's nearby with his Patriotic Reindeer.
For nothing can stop our American traditions;
Not even foreign terrorists and their evil ambitions.
