I stand by the waters edge
Sand is being pulled around my feet to the sea
As the waves come and go
My feet disrupt the natural flow
The sun warms the sea water so well
I love the warmth of the sea water against the cool breeze
Beside me, I hold the hand of my lovely daughter
Who has stories of past trips to tell
My Daughter looks that the moving sea with wonders
From the eyes of a six year old daughter
It's no wonder
This is a special time for a father and daughter
Last month, it was the Rock of Gilbraltor
My daughter looks up and me and said, "I love you father."
I turned to her and said, "I love you too my lovely daughter."
Time is precious this is for sure
For you must make time for love to endure
I'm to busy, is the common excuse
To say, I'm not too busy, is surely the cure
My Plane leaves soon for another Business trip
I can only imagine it will be for a month, maybe more
My daughter hands me her soda and said, "Dad, want a sip?"
I work so hard to provide a comfortable living
For this is the ultimate sacrifice
I look at my daughter's blue eyes and ask myself, will another job suffice?
A large jumbo jet flies overhead
We look up, knowing time to go is near
I know there is so much to be said
But now I know, what I have to do is perfectly clear
I will forgo this Business trip and many more
For this time with my daughter and many more will prevail
Having less, I will surely explore
For my daughter, a wonderful relationship will true, not be a fairy tale
