The path I walk is narrow and steep
The smell of spring with the warm sun, I cannot avoid
This is a personal commitment I must keep
To leave the city and make this climb, I truly enjoy
The city is busy, too busy for me
Traffic and smog I must escape
I know walk along rivers and under tall trees
My time here is short, next week could be the Cape
I look down at the wet, green meadows below
Elk and deer eat while wild flowers bloom
Where these animals eat, lava did flow
Once there was nature's destruction, life did resume
Visitors come and then they go
Most don't take the path I walk
This walk up this path is a challenge I know
This is something I must do, hold back the talk
Clouds are forming, I am running out of time
Another five miles before I stop for the night
I will to dream about the next climb
I am getting stronger, it will be less of a fight
More and more stay in the city
With a mountain in the distance they can't ignore
Hustle and bustle, meetings and committee's
Just over my head, an eagle has soared
There must be a balance between work and play
Some see this and others do not
Too much work is a price some pay
I wondered this when I looked at the Yacht
The animals have left so I must walk
I will return home soon and find another path
I will return home soon to adjust to a clock
I will return home soon to soak in a bath
