Goodnight, Goodbye
Temitope Joseph |
On his death bed
he stared through dim eyes
at the duo of his progeny
one after the other
his time ticking away,
his valedictory speech ready to spill
With the voice of ages,
he spoke to him
who makes his heart swell
with parental pride.
To him,he spoke
milk and honey
and smiled the toothless smile
of the terminally aged.
To him,he said
"Goodnight,for the morning
shall come when we'll meet again"
With his icy croaked voice
he spoke to him
who makes his loins
regret its outpour.
To him,he spoke
empty nothings
and frowned the wrinkled frown
of gray days.
To him,he said
"Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye,
for this night shall forever be"
