Emily strolls down the long Pier
A Pier reaching out to the ocean swells
The one that left her, she wishes is near
Just a month ago, she heard church bells
The Pier ended and none is here
Her long thin white dress moved behind from the wind
Her face remained without expression, not even a tear
Friends told her, when you walk away, you will carry a grin
Her love for him could not be concealed
Emily thought the ocean would bring her peace, but she could not hide her inner pain
Friends told her, time will pass, you will heal
Emily knew, to remain near him, she would not lose but gain
She felt the wind brush against her face
Her long brown hair and dress pushed from front to behind
She waited for his arrival, for a long embrace
Emily wanted a letter to find
Emily thought, the ocean,a place to reach a peace of mind
But the heavy thoughts of loss remained strong
Her heart and his are forever entwined
Emily knows she can't wait for very long
Emily looked down near her bare feet
There, a paper folded in three
She opened the letter, the words written, come back my sweet
Emily looked out to the open sea for a moment, then read the last sentence,
I ask for you hand, I will be on my knees
Emily could not hold back her joyful tears
She knew happiness will come with no other
Bells will chime again, this she will hear
One after the other
She strolled down the Pier, away from the sea
To return to where he waits
Emily will be asked a question, she will agree
In her heart, he will forever be her soul mate
