Heat is dense,
almost tangible
like a woolen blanket
it tucks you in
claustrophobically
to let you dream
but not in peace:
in anxiety and frenzy.
heat fills up the skin pores
and sneaks into
your soul
so deep
like a sinking ball
falls to the bottom
of a well
with a blunt thud
but it doesn't rest
not for a bit
there is no escape
not in the hot water
of the sea
not in the offices
without a/c
not at night
muggy and windless
you wait
until it subsides
but it doesn't
it takes patience
but it strips you off patience
it cheats you every time
it cheats you with a promise
of the end
which never seems to come
