A Winter Fire
Roger Belton |
There's nothing so special as a winter fire,
Flames dancing and skipping hour by hour.
The reds, the yellows and vivid blues,
Hypnotically shift through infinite hues.
The radiant warmth adds to our inner glow,
Makes us glad for the cold, and falling snow.
What pleasure there is in moments like this,
As before the fire we relax and reminisce.
With a cup of hot cocoa close at hand,
Can there be ought but peace in our land?
We close our eyes, the fire still glows,
Toasting us completely from nose to toes.
We stretch, we yawn, bring cup to our lips,
Relishing this moment between chocolaty sips.
Life moves on, of that there's no doubt;
But times like this are what life's really about.
