Shadows fall across my heart
bringing shades of sadness
sinking me deep into
the depths of depression
as the tears descend from my eyes
leaving moist pathways
upon my damaged expression
desolation fills my thoughts
hindering sequestered smiles
waiting at the doorway
of laughing faces
familiar faces I used to know
who would be saddened
by this depression I feel
needing the comfort of
a mothers warm embrace
shielding me from my misery
wiping away these tears
giving me words of hope
with that sparkle in her eyes
and a beautiful smile on her lips
