Once upon a time where freedom reigned
Life was grand and full of hope
Made in America meant one thing, great stuff
Made to last from American hands
Skilled craftsman full of pride
Weren't in a hurry they took their time
Their product had to reflect American made
On that they would stake their name
Employers treated them with respect
The American dream was theirs to have
Opportunity and freedom was all the rage
The world wanted American made
But as time would have it greed kicked in
Politicians were bought and traded
To the highest bidder they sold their soul
Like animals in an auction pen
Little by little they sold out their land
Giving into greed and money in hand
Leaving others to pay the price
Enjoying their wealth to others demise
Jobs were lost to cheaper labor
Products became throw away
And buy another
The dream was now lost to corporate greed
A pill for every ill now the planted seed
Skills of long ago no longer needed
A way of life now deleted
In the years to come after the great fall
Children could only listen as others talked
The ones who remembered the great land
Could only tell stories of how it was then
Fairytale is what the children believed
They never got to see these great things
Their days spent searching for scraps
And dreaming someday maybe perhaps
America would once again rise in her glory
And their children would never hear the story
Of how America was destroyed from within
By crooked politicians and evil greedy men
