My Struggle
Roger Belton |
For many of us in this enlightened age,
Thoughts about our weight take center stage.
Everywhere we turn, to the right or the left,
We're ever reminded of our physical heft.
“Perfect bodies” confront us on every hand,
Extolling the virtues of another reducing plan.
We're offered those miracle pills, so easy to use;
Helping us loose that weight, even while we snooze!
And all those devices, and machines of every kind,
Each better than the last, the choices boggle the mind!
Whether we decide to try one, or maybe two or three,
In our efforts to loose pounds and from flab to be free,
The only thing guaranteed to be lighter in the end
Is our bank account, minus the money we had to spend!
