A Mother's Prayer ( I )
Michelle D. Lewis

I pray a silent prayer for you,
a prayer of mother's grief...
a prayer of love, a prayer of hope
a prayer for your relief.

You are my firstborn angel,
no fairer sight to see.
The inner fire which you possess
burns stronger constantly.

You've been left a heavy burden child,
scars of time gone by.
Of Heaven's Masterplan of this,
I have to ask "God Why?"

If I could bend back Time's strong hands
to the days of yesteryear,
I'd wish your pain upon myself
somehow to dry your tears.

But Time can't be erased my love
and forward we must go.
Side by side, hand in hand
somehow we must grow.

So close your weary eyes my love
and lay your fears to rest.
You'll need your strength,
my determined child to show the world your best
