Once
Michelle D. Lewis

What once was we is now only me
and memories of what had been.

What once was strong, now seems so wrong,
but given a chance I'd do it again.

Where once was love, like hand to glove,
lie two hearts so woefully slain.

Where once was pleasure, no man could measure,
are now two souls suffering in pain.

Once thought as Fate has come too late;
hope lies dying and sadness reigns.

Once thought as forever, our two hearts together,
this union struggles to sustain.

If just one chance, be damned circumstance,
I could hold you in my arms tomorrow,

I'd remove all your fear, love you so dear...
cherish each moment that Time let me borrow.
