Dream Of Night
Brandy Stevens

My insides deteriorate and crumble
Words slur and I continue to mumble
My feet start to slip and slide
And my face is without hide
The moon is silently in tears
All exposed are my fears
The sky lit with all the fireflies
Sit against the trees screaming my goodbyes
Sitting there as the creek rises with the rain
Weeping willows soothe my pain
Mother reaches out to me
But with no eye I cannot see
The owls are screeching far and near
But without lobes I cannot hear
The flowers beneath me bloom only in the cold
But without a nose I cannot smell the fragrance they hold
The water runs cool and fast but it is only to waste
With no lips I cannot sip to taste
The moonflowers twinkle with the pollen
And the dew runs from the Fallen
Stars dust lands in my hair and shatters
And the clothes I wear become tattered
I have no shelter I am exposed
And against the woods grain I begin to dose
Butterflies flutter around such a beautiful sight
What happens when you dream of night?
