The air is cold and the breeze is slight
Snow falls, covering once was green
One hour ago, the full moon was bright
I sit on my porch of my cabin, how serene
My mountain cabin is where I find peace
Inside my cabin, ceder and fir burns adding heat
Here my troubles are let go, I am so at ease
The white powdery snow snow lyes undisturbed, so neat
A dear darts across, leaving tracks behind
The deer stops and looks at me, as if blind
With the brown and white coat, no need for heat
Life in the mountain can be so kind
The date is the twenty fourth of December
Christmas eve is near
I have so much to think about, so much to remember
My little ones when small, were so dear
I will soon hear a car come up the old road soon
My kids age by day, love grows stronger year by year
We will wake up and build a snowman by noon
You will hear loud laughter and cheer
We will speak of fond memories when we were young
My tree is decorated, by cabin is cozy and small
We will song new songs and songs we once sung
Our favorite carol is Deck the Halls
Temperature is dropping, time to go in
You notice my cabin is filled with natural things
I am filled with joy, a tear runs down my skin
My cello is ready to play, I have new strings
As I sit by my stone fireplace
You see stockings pinned to the hearth of wood
Near my fireplace, an old antique vase
My friends said, go to the cabin, I think you should
I see lights coming up the old road
It's my sons car for sure, one headlight up, one down
With all my kids and their luggage, quite a load
His small German car, you can barely notice the color brown
My kids come to my door with smiles and tears
Love this time of year, Christmas cheer and love
They are here now, I have no fear
I really had nothing to fear because the man above
My cabin door shut, Christmas Cheer and warmth is here
These next five days, I will never forget
My neighbors near will know, it is love and togetherness they will hear
Family togetherness is here, my happiness has been met
