Wings made of memories
Light and slowly dimming
One day, after the wind has kissed them for the last time
And all their feathers have slipped away,
Then too the memories will forever fade.
The sun
Unequal in her shining brilliance
Closes her sleepy eyes and bows her head
Her sister, moon, sneaks past her holding her skirt high
Her white beams of light fill the sky
Bathing the earth with cool shadows
A relief from the sun's heated passion.
A star, a diamond in the sky
Alone in her beauty
An object to behold
Beheld from afar but never touched
Beheld from afar but never loved
Beheld from afar but never known.
Sorrow is a maiden covering her head in white
She hides her face behind a veil
Her tears fall silently, alone
To paint with poetry
To color with advice
To love with patience
To be catch up in the rolling of the waves
To be lost at sea, heart, soul and finally body
To be one with the salt and the sand
To be free as the birds who ride above
The depths of the deep, my soul
The pounding of the waves, my heartbeat
The rush of the sea, my voice
The white crest of its hills, my hands
The reflection of its surface, my face
The billowing seaweed, my hair
The pearls of its oysters, my heart
Finer than any jewel you can mine
Brighter than any pearl you can find
Sweeter than any honey you could collect
Sharper than any memory you could recollected
