Space, a place to call your own
Infinite and vast
Once with two, now alone
Why were they so close to the blast?
I am tired, to prevent my demise
I called back to earth but no one was home
The other to missed a step, very unwise
We were to land near a large dome
This ship just goes on it's own
With me just looking into space
The remainder of my life is now on loan
One that is now gone we all called Ace
They now float in space without weight
We were such good friends
To Ace there was no hate
The other, Laura, she had the bends
She was the last to go
I did all I could but the damage is great
She pleaded, "Let me go," I said no
I said I am sorry for being too late
I am still one year away to where I land
Space is so dark, what will I do
My ship is well but where is the band
Who will I meet next, I ask who
My gauges tell me my direction and status
This put a little at ease
How I want to return below the stratus
The three of us remembering sailing the open seas
My ship is large, the largest of them all
This will help in my marooned state
I will wait patiently for someone to answer my call
I don't want them to be late
Systems will keep me alive for many years
I am thankful and I am blessed
The damage could have been worse, bring forth my greatest fears
I did survive the test.
I want to hear, Captain Hanson, are you there
As time passes, I will continue to watch and listen
I know there are those on earth those cares
She is my beautiful wife, her name is Kristen
Space is vast, filled with unknowns
Different colored planets and bright stars
Space is where I will roam
Will my next home be Mars?
This is the Captain's log for someone to read
My hopes are this log will be discovered
For what has happened in this ship, the warning they will heed
Should something happen to me, this log will be recovered.
