Goodbye My Wife
Peter McCoy |
Goodbye my wife
Eventhough I have dreamt about you every night,
Since we parted forever to separate horizons and separate lives,
and sometimes in the whispers of my mind,
I can hear your voice, feel your kiss
...and hear your cry.
For was there ever any happy time?
Or was my foolish youth my crime,
All I know is I feel you in between every beat of my heart,
And if it ever stopped you would be its last thought,
I have longed for it to stop...
Unforgiving, relentless, sleepless nights,
Tortured by my own life,
My own creation,
My own sadness for losing my other half.
Goodbye my wife,
I must get on with this life,
And not live in the past or in a dream,
Not in an illusion of the past that never was, or a life that will never be.
Each of us have our own cross to bear,
And God only gives us the cross which we are able for!
That's one of your only sentences I can remember and one of the last you said to me,
Was it advice or a prophecy,
For if you where just a glimpse of heaven
I never realized,
And is it better to never see heaven
If you are to spend life without its sweet taste on your lips...
Perhaps there are other heavens,
And thanks to our experience it will be more than just a glimpse...
And when we met on that April 2001,
And shared the sea under a moonlit night,
Who would've thought we would share so much...
Who could have seen what was to come
Goodbye my wife,
Have a joyous life.
