Ask Your Soul, Not Your Mind
Shah Ali Riyad

For once,
Take your eyes and years deep into your soul,
The deepest there can be,
To the part where you've never dared to go
If you are afraid, hold my hand
and we shall see.

Come follow me
And we will be in no trouble,
For I have been there already!
Then ask your soul, What real beauty is,
And let him answer freely.

If you can do that than you will know.
Why all the high places are actually so low?
Why the sun doesn't shine on everyone at a time?
Why all the dew drops don't have the same glow?

Its not the inner beauty that wins you the race,
Just look in the mirror and ask your face.
Your moral might deceive you but your eyes wont,
For once trust your eyes Then you will know,
In this cruel place,
Beauty is the only thing, that drives the motion.
Beauty is the only thing, that will give you peace and true happy notion.

The Beauty Within
Johanna Albee

Far beneath the surface, underneath the skin
Lies a beauty more precious than any
for it is the beauty within
Enclosed in an average wrapper
may lie a heart of gold
Or a heart so precious and tender
that for no price could it be sold

So quickly our eyes are to deceive us
of what a true treasure may be
That to find one that is truly genuine
we must look through our hearts to see

A lesson so few ever realize
and one that others may never learn
Sacrificing themselves of a valuable prize
that their eyes forbid them to earn

Mirror Mirror
Sheila Center

Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
I don't like what I see at all.
The young girl that once lived inside,
Is missing now my age can't hide.

It seems like only yesterday,
You pleased me when I'd look,
And now you've gone and changed the time,
And with it, took my youth.

You took from me what made me whole,
Some how it feels I've lost my soul.
The person age has made me,
Is someone else, you must agree.

The wrinkles give me cold dark stares,
The auburn now is just gray hair.
The youth by now is all sucked dry.
Mirror, mirror, why can't you lie?

Gray Hair
Kathy Gandy

Some think gray hair is unattractive
Some say it makes them look old.
Some like me, admire gray hair
And feel it's something for the eye to behold.

For some it's a constant battle
As their gray they try to hide.
But sure enough it always comes back
Though countless times it's been dyed!

Some cover their gray with auburn
Some wash it away with brown.
Some like me, wear it with pride
Because to them it is a crown.

Over The Hill
Dennis Hardy

So you reckon I'm over the hill you say;
That old man's finally done;
That brain beneath this snowy crown
has been dimmed by to much sun.
Though my step is slow, my tread is sure.
You can be sure of that,
And the life you have was not like mine
When I battled the Birdsville Track.

The walking stick that aids my gait
I thought would never come:
Replaced the whip of greenhide plait
Which mountain echoes sung.
Oh! I see your look of disbelief.
Pray do not hide your eyes.
Like you I gave that look
Which my father too despised.

"What's that old mate? A shout you say
Well that's really kind of you.
A beer would set this old frame right
And see this hot day through.
We'll brace the bar just you and I
And I'll paint for you a tale,
When I drove the famous Cobb and Co
And carried the royal mail.

So we sat together both age and youth
And we talked the clock around:
The youngster with his future fears:
The old with tails abound.
We talked until the barman's call
Sounded that time was done,
And staggered home with a swaying gait"
A father...And his son.
