Ballad
Monique Roberson

The melody caught me up
So quickly
It pierced my soul
Released in me
Feelings that I thought
Were long gone
But they were still with me
Then the singer's voice
Began to draw me in
Pulling, tugging, selfishly
at my heart
A wound once closed reopened
Emotions that only
One person could stir in me
Resurfaced
Along came the bridge
Then the chorus
Maddening, relentless, unending
Working me into a frenzy
One thought playing in my mind
Over and over
Him!
The song ends
And I am left alone
Reality sinks in
It will never be
Then I listen to the song again

Dance In Your Music
Brian L. Davis

I hear the tempo
Visualize the scenes
Of your upbeat music
Soaring forward
As you tickle the ivories
The passion required
For such exquisite melodies
Feet tapping out rhythm
To this musical style
tenderly playing to my ears
Whispering dance like Fred Astaire
Dance to written love affairs
Across the ceiling
Over the floor
Like Ginger Rogers once more
Romantics conveyed a Lady In Red
Dancing with a sultry moon
Brown eyes maybe blue
If there's magic
I'll know soon
Whispering intimately to rhythmic seduction
Lips spilling words I conjure up
In a moonlit moment for two
A miracle unfolding
Under the seductive moon
A partner a vision
Music to my ears
Minds alike lovingly acquired
In tune like Frank Sinatra
Bette Middler too
A dance in your music
Magically her eyes were blue
Thanks to Hope and Ivy Rose too

The Songs Never Fade
Hope Smith

Visualized the scenes
We lovingly acquired
Both soaring toward
The passion required

With his musical style
Me dancing the beat
Minds alike travelled
Yet could never meet

His music to my ears
Love playing tenderly
My lips spilling words
Whispering intimately

Brown eyes met blue
Romantics conveyed
In written love affairs
The songs never fade

The Magic In Your Music
Ivy Rose

I hear the tempo
of your upbeat music,
the swing and sway of skirts,
as you tickle the ivories
and illicit such incredible
beauty, such exquisite melodies.

My feet tapping out the rhythm
of many drums, the passion
of a thousand violins. And, you sing.
Unaware of the miracle unfolding
within my heart...that moment
when the music becomes the pure magic
of the night stars and the moonbeams
dancing upon the wavering heartbeat
of a sultry and seductive Moon.

I am "The Lady In Red,"
as your words conjure up
images of a red dress, a red sway.
My partner and I step up to the vision
of past dancers...a Fred Astaire
and Ginger Rogers of the past
dancing across the ceiling,
over the floor of a grand ballroom.

We can be anything. We can sing
like Bette Middler or Frank Sinatra
in this moonlit moment of two.
You keep on singing and playing
the piano...still unaware of the magic
that your voice and your hands are making
in this night of rhythmic seduction.
